Livio Spanò was born in Augusta in 1987. He primarily writes poetry. In 2012, he joined the writers’ collective Nucleo Negazioni, contributing to the poetry collections I ragazzi non vogliono smettere and Un niente per due, both published by Matisklo Editore. With Antisociale, another collective of artists, he took part in the self-titled anthology with two poems. In 2015, alongside his friend Nicola Amato, he collaborated on the graphic project Letteratura Incisa, contributing two poetic texts and concluding the project with a group exhibition at the University Library of Bologna. In 2016, he was selected by poet Gaetano Privitera to participate in the literary initiative Il Maggio dei Libri with his poem Mentre il niente divora il resto (La fuga), featured in an artistic installation created in collaboration with students from the Emilio Greco Art High School in Sant’Agata Li Battiati, and hosted at the M.G. Cutuli Municipal Library. In 2021, together with Enza Amato and her Polaroids, he published the poetry and photography collection Esserci a fatica with Edizioni Underground. He later self-published the poetry book La vita accade with Edizioni Amande. In April 2026, he published his third book Chiudi la porta prima di andare via — il futuro era ieri with Edizioni Underground. In 2026, he encountered photography as a language he could understand, a way to communicate and express himself when writing is not enough.
